Immpower
In 1984, Japanese scientists discovered that by cross breeding several types of medicinal mushrooms
they could derive a natural substance that gives the body what it needs to maintain "super immunity.''
Given the chemical name, Active Hexose Correlated Compound by its discoverers, research shows it may
be the most powerful immune stimulating compound available with or without a prescription.
In clinical trials involving hundreds of patients it has been effective in the majority, treating and
in some cases preventing reoccurrence in patients with multiple myeloma, AIDS, liver, prostate, ovarian,
and breast cancer, hepatitis-C and other life threatening conditions with no dangerous side effects.
This compound, sold under the trade name AHCC® in Japan, has just become available in the U.S. under the
brand name Immpower, and since it provides a powerful tool in the therapeutic approach
we champion, we wanted to provide information about its research and development with physicians and patients
that share our interests.
The Proof
There are many studies that show the benefits of Active Hexose Correlated Compound, but the most impressive
is also the most recent, a study of patients with liver cancer. The researchers wanted to see how Active Hexose
Correlated Compound would affect the liver cancer patient's overall survival and pattern of reoccurrence. The
results were remarkable:
1. Fewer patients reoccurred in the Active Hexose Correlated Compound group, 49%, versus 67% in the control group.
2. Average survival was 23 months longer among patients who took Active Hexose Correlated Compound versus those who didn't.
3. Overall survival was improved in the Active Hexose Correlated Compound group. At the end of the study, 79% of the Active Hexose Correlated Compound patients were still alive, versus only 51% of those who didn't take it.
4. No undesirable side effects were reported.
These results are better than any published for chemo, secondary surgery, or radiation - and all without nasty
side effects!
Studied in Combination With Chemo
The study concluded, ''Taken together, the combination of Active Hexose Correlated Compounds plus chemotherapy
brought about good therapeutic effects not only on primary tumor growth, but also on reducing metastasis and
these effects were mediated by host immunity which was restored or activated by Active Hexose Correlated Compound.
Immune System Deficiencies and Aging
The reason for generally healthy people to add this supplement to their daily vitamin regime may be for its "anti-aging''
benefits, which may be its greatest use. Anti-aging medicine is just another term for preventative medicine, since it
appears that most of the conditions we associate with aging are the accumulated damage from a lifetime of illnesses.
Research has established that immune system function, particularly T-cell and NK cell function, declines with age, and
when it falls below a certain "threshold leve1,'' it allows for the increased frequency, severity and duration of illnesses
we associate with aging.
"Evidence has been accumulating from several studies which suggest an association between immune function and individual
longevity." Also, "Numerous changes occur in the immune system with advancing age, probably contributing to the decreased
immuno-responsiveness in the elderly. These changes are often associated with important clinical manifestations such as
increased susceptibility to infection and cancer frequently observed in the elderly population." Cancer of course, but even
heart disease, the gradual onset of diabetes, and other chronic diseases can be explained by this research.
We cannot ignore our immune systems simply because we do not feel sick or don't anticipate getting sick. We need to follow
the old adage, "by the time you feel it . . . it may be too late." By keeping your immune system strong, you may be able to
deter cancer or heart disease or any other illness that seems to strike as we age.
